Woman apparently from Cuba found alive in crate shipped to Miami

MIAMI (AFP) — A woman, apparently from Cuba, was found alive and well in a small crate that had been shipped to Miami International Airport, a customs spokesman said.

"A woman arrived in a crate last night," said Zachary Mann of the US Customs and Border Protection.

"The crate was about the size of a filing cabinet," he told AFP.

"The woman a Cuban National in her twenties, apparently with the assistance of others, shipped herself to the United States from Nassau, Bahamas," he said.

"She is currently being interviewed and processed by US Customs and Border Protection to determine her immigration status and the circumstances surrounding her unusual arrival in the United States," the spokesman said.
