Moyes mum on Rooney transfer to Man Utd

MANCHESTER (AFP) — With just a day before the transfer window closes, Everton manager David Moyes kept mum on the chances of striker Wayne Rooney signing for Manchester United.

"I cannot give any indication about the situation," Moyes said after Everton held United to a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford.

"We have not even spoken about it today," Moyes said, adding: "Wayne is a very good player and is a joy to work with."

Rooney, who handed in a transfer request on Friday after Everton rejected bids from both United and Newcastle, had hoped that his departure from the club he has supported since he was a boy would be smooth.

United later upped a bid of 20 million pounds (36 million USD) to 25 million pounds (44.7 million dollars), and the move to Old Trafford...
