Roddick, Hewitt advance, Ferrero upset at US Open

NEW YORK (AFP) — Defending champion Andy Roddick unleashed his second 245 kph (152 mph) serve of the 17.8 million dollar US Open as he rolled to a second-round victory over 18-year-old Rafael Nadal.
Roddick blasted 10 aces en route to a 6-0, 6-3, 6-4 win over the left-handed Spaniard at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Roddick cranked the record-tieing serve on his second serve of the match. He set the US Open record during his first-round win over American compatriot Scoville Jenkins.
"There is something about the night session at the Open that gets inside of you a bit," Roddick said. "He (Nadal) was getting pumped up and I wanted to keep my intensity up as well."
