Courier, Noah, Novotna among Tennis Hall of Fame nominees

NEWPORT, United States (AFP) — American Jim Courier, Frenchman Yannick Noah and Czech star Jana Novotna were among eight people nominated for possible 2005 induction to the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

Nominating committee chairman Tony Trabert announced the ballot list, which also included contributors Butch Buchholz of the United States and Eiichi Kawatei of Japan and retired players Owen Davidson of Australia, Christine Truman Janes of England and Patricia Canning Todd of the United States.

A 75 percent support level from a global media panel is required for induction for recent players while a masters panel will decide the fate of contributors and pre-Open Era players.
