Giggs warns of Rooney burnout

LONDON (AFP) — Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs warned against pressures which could lead to the premature burnout of the Premiership side's new teenage star Wayne Rooney.
The 18-year-old England striker came back from three months off with a foot injury to produce a hat-trick on his debut for Manchester United in their 6-2 Champions League win against Turkish side Fenerbahce on Tuesday.
Giggs admitted that he had been subjected to the same intense scrutiny when he was dubbed the 'new George Best' after breaking into the Red Devils with a winner against Manchester City in 1991.
And the Welshman said that the responsibility now lay with manager Sir Alex Ferguson to ensure that they don't kill the goose that lays the golden egg.
