Kerry and wife talk about the home front with TV's Dr. Phil

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry and his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, got very personal in an interview with popular TV psychologist Phil McGraw aired with an eye on the women's vote.

In a cozy chat to match the one President George W. Bush and his wife Laura did last month with "Dr. Phil," the Kerrys largely bypassed politics and talked about family matters, in the talk taped recently in Boston.

Kerry, who has two daughters from a first marriage that ended in divorce, confessed that giving marriage a second chance was a bit scary.

"I think there probably was a nervousness about making a commitment," Kerry said.

But, "I just put myself into it. I knew who I was .. Knowing what's important is a huge part of it."
