Baird takes halfway lead at Funai Classic

LAKE BUENA VISTA, United States (AFP) — Briny Baird fired a 66 to capture the halfway lead at the Funai Classic, one stroke in front of former British Open champion Tom Lehman.
Baird's round on the Palm Course included seven birdies and gave him a 36-hole total of 13-under-par 131.
Lehman, playing on the Magnolia course, also shot a 66 for 132.
"There's a lot of birdies to be had out there," said Baird, who last year shot a 62 in the second round. "I probably need to make another 12-to-15 birdies on the weekend to have any chance at winning."
