Grandparents form political bloc ahead of Nov. 2 vote

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Candidates for the White House now have yet another potentially influential bloc of voters to court, with the founding of a political interest group for grandpas and grandmas.
The new group GrannyVoter.org said it would hold an official press conference announcing its unveiling on Tuesday. The group was also set to roll out the results of a poll of grandparents, and their political preferences.
"Seventy million grandparents, and the total will be 80 million by 2010 as the 'Baby Boom' generation (born between 1946 and 1964) become grandparents," the group said.
