Crowd trouble mars Liverpool victory

LONDON (AFP) — Liverpool cruised into the League Cup fourth round with a 3-0 win away to Championship side Millwall at the New Den but violence in the stands overshadowed the victory.
On the pitch, Senegal midfielder Salif Diao opened the scoring driving in from a corner in the 18th minute and substitute Czech Republic striker Milan Baros added the second in the 70th before scoring again in the closing seconds just two days away from his 23rd birthday.
Part-way through the second half, a fight in Millwall's main stand appeared to spark the trouble which followed.
Angry Liverpool supporters in the away end raced down the exit tunnels and fought with baton-wielding police officers in the lower tier as chair seats flew from the upper tier.
