Hands off United, Ferguson tells Glazer

LONDON (AFP) — Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has waded into the takeover debate and stated that he does not want the club to be in the hands of an outside investor like American business tycoon Malcolm Glazer.

Glazer, already an unpopular figure among United supporters, has so far been thwarted in his takeover bid, despite causing a stir recently by ousting three members of the board at United's annual general meeting.

Bankers JP Morgan subsequently pulled out of plans to financially support The Tampa Bay Buccaneers owner's takeover bid.
