Serbian president survives apparent attempt on his life: office

BELGRADE (AFP) — Serbian President Boris Tadic has survived an apparent assassination attempt when a car tried to crash into his vehicle in Belgrade, his office said.
"The official vehicle carrying Serbian President Boris Tadic was attacked around 9:00 pm (2000 GMT) Tuesday" in central Belgrade's Kneza Milosa avenue, the office said in a statement.
Tadic was not injured in the incident, it added.
An Audi tried several times to crash into the president's car, although it was "clearly marked," the statement said, adding that a "proper reaction by security officials prevented serious consequences."
One vehicle in the presidential convoy was damaged in the incident, while the Audi fled the scene, it added.
Police has yet to issue a statement on the incident.
