Driver in Serbian president motorcade incident was US embassy employee

BELGRADE (AFP) — The driver of a vehicle that crashed into a presidential motorcade was a local employee of the US embassy who turned himself in to police claiming he had no intention of assassinating Serbian President Boris Tadic, radio B92 reported.
"He said he had no intention to attack the president," the radio said, without naming its sources, adding that he had gone voluntarily to the police.
Serbian Interior Minister Dragan Jocic confirmed the report and said his office "was informed by the security department of the US embassy (in Belgrade)" about the identity of the driver.
