Roddick overpowers Saulnier to win San Jose ATP event

SAN JOSE, California, (AFP) — American Andy Roddick cruised past unseeded Cyril Saulnier 6-0, 6-4 for his second consecutive San Jose ATP title and 16th career tour victory.

Top seed Roddick, who was on the course for less than a hour, posted his first win of 2005.

"The first set was really good on my part," said Roddick, who took home 52,000 dollars for the victory.

"I was feeling really confident, compared to earlier in the week when I came in struggling."

The 22-year-old Roddick was coming off a disappointing loss to Australia's Lleyton Hewitt in the semi-finals of the Aussie Open.

Roddick defeated unheralded American Mardy Fish in the final here last year.
