HP ex-CEO Carly Fiorina on World Bank short list

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Former Hewlett-Packard head Carly Fiorina is well placed to head the World Bank, the New York Times said.
The daily, quoting a Bush administration official on condition of anonymity, said Fiorina was the lone woman on a US list of candidates to replace James Wolfensohn to head the multilateral bank.
Carleton Fiorina headed HP since 1999 and oversaw its merger with Compaq, but failed to turn enough profit to satisfy her board, and she left on February 9.
The New York daily also named Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz as a possible World Bank president when Wolfensohn leaves in June.
The Financial Times also floated his name.
