Czech goalie Kouba hangs up his boots

PRAGUE (AFP) — Goalkeeper Petr Kouba, who helped the Czech national team reach the finals of the 1996 European football championships, announced his retirement.

Kouba, 36, who began his career in 1992 with Sparta Prague helping the club to win the Czech league title three times, will take over as Sparta's head goalkeepers coach.

After the Euro 1996 tournament he transferred to Deportivo La Coruna in Spain, later moving to Kaiserslautern in Germany ...
