Pope not bothered by media attention: spokesman

ROME (AFP) — Convalescent Pope John Paul II is unfazed by the constant media attention outside his hospital where the lenses of television and still cameras are constantly trained on the windows of his 10th-floor suite, his spokesman said.

"The pope does not feel bothered by the attention of the media from around the world," Joaquin Navarro-Valls told Vatican Radio.

He was reacting to a question whether the phalanx of reporters and cameramen outside Rome's Gemelli hospital could be seen as a kind of "voyeurism".

"If some people are interested in insignificant details, so be it," he said. "But they are a small minority."
