Vuitton goes Art Deco for next winter, Valentino glamorous as ever

PARIS (AFP) — US designer Marc Jacobs paid tribute to the 1920s and Art Deco fashion with his winter collection for Louis Vuitton, while Valentino did what he does best, offering a healthy dose of sultry glamour.
Jacobs used Tiffany-style stained glass windows as a backdrop to hint at what was to come: prim charcoal gray suits with long skirts and beaded evening wear that recalled the era of F. Scott Fitzgerald and designer Jeanne Lanvin.
Black overcoats with gold topstitching, romantic tweed coats veiled with organza and patchwork skirts with geometric patterns conjured up images of the Roaring Twenties, as did velvet coats with cut-out flower accents.
Fur, seen everywhere on the Paris catwalks, edged suede coats, capes and the ubiquitous Vuitton handbags....
