Indian relatives of Air India victims demand fresh probe

BOMBAY (AFP) — Indian relatives of victims who perished in the Air India plane bombing 20 years ago called for a fresh probe after a Canadian court acquitted two Sikhs accused of blowing up the aircraft.

Expressing shock and disbelief, relatives said the Canadian legal system had let them down and a fresh probe was needed to identify those responsible for killing 329 people, including many Indian nationals.

"If the two accused who were narrowed down after a lot of investigation are not the culprits, then who is it," asked Bollywood actor Vijayendra Ghatge whose sister Sangeeta died in the mid-air tragedy.

She was a airhostess on board the ill-fated Air India Flight 182 which was blown up on June 23, 1985.
