India's Satyam Computer full-year profit jumps 39 percent

HYDERABAD, India (AFP) — India's fourth largest software exporter, Satyam Computer Services, said its full-year net profit jumped 39 percent as it won more customers.

Full-year net profit rose to 7.12 billion rupees (165 million dollars) while revenues were up 37 percent to 36 billion rupees for the year ended March 31.

The company's shares rose 10.60 rupees or 2.81 percent to 388 rupees after the results were announced, bucking the broader market with the benchmark Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex down 31.18 points or 0.50 percent to 6,212.56 in morning trade.

For the fourth quarter to March, net profit rose 53 percent to 2.06 billion rupees, in line with analyst expectations of 2.0 billion rupees. Sales increased 39 percent to 10.1 billion rupees.
