Vinokourov ends Di Luca's triple dream

LIEGE, Belgium (AFP) — Alexandre Vinokourov handed T-Mobile their first big victory of the season winning the Liege-Bastogne-Liege one-day classic, the 10th race of cycling's 27-leg Pro Tour series held over 260km in the Belgian Ardennes.

Jens Voigt, who rides for CSC, came second after Vinokourov held the big German off in a sprint for the finish, with Dutchman Michael Boogerd of Rabobank finishing third.

Both Vinokourov, of Kazakhstan, and Voigt - one of the most active riders of the early season - finished the 91st edition of the oldest classic still in existence in a time of 6hr 29min 09sec.
