BAGHDAD (AFP) — Iraqi forces have found items belonging to British aid worker Margaret Hassan who was taken hostage last year and believed to have been slain by her abductors, an interior ministry official said.
The items, including documents and clothes, were found on Sunday during a police raid in an area south of the capital.
"Police forces and commandos, assisted by US forces, carried out a raid in the Jaara area, south of Baghdad. They found small weapons, arrested six armed men and found a bag, documents and clothes belonging to Margaret Hassan," the official told AFP.
The official was unable to provide details of the case or say if the discovery might lead to a breakthrough in the investigation into her disappearance.
