MONACO (AFP) — Second half goals from Sebastien Squillaci and Emmanuel Adebayor boosted Monaco's Champions League hopes next season with a 2-0 win over Lille in this weekend's only French league game.

In a match postponed following the death of Prince Rainier last month, the hosts did not disappoint fans moving to within a point of second-place Lille in the French league table.

Leaders Lyon have 69 points from 34 games with Lille on 58 and Monaco, 57, four ahead of Marseille, their leading rivals for a Champions League berth.

Sunday's result also means defending champions Lyon can wrap up the title next weekend.
