Georgia to sell four major state-owned enterprises

TBILISI, (AFP) — Georgia's economy ministry announced plans to sell off four of its major state-owned enterprises, an energy grid and several power stations, in a continuing effort to reform its economy and bring in much needed cash.
The Azot chemical factory, the Rustavi metallurgic plant, the Batumi port infrastructure and the Electrovagonoremontny train carriage repair line are to be privatised, ministry officials said.
Georgia's United Distributor Energy Company which is responsible for supplying 70 percent of Georgia with electricity on low-level voltage lines, the Adjari energy distributor, and five hydro-electric power stations in Georgia's west are also be up for bids.
