Former Baylor basketballer pleads guilty to killing teammate

WACO, United States (AFP) — Carlton Dotson pleaded guilty to killing Baylor university basketball teammate Patrick Dennehy in 2003.
Dotson, who was ruled incompetent to stand trial last year and admitted to a mental hospital, now faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
Dennehy's body was found in a quarry near Baylor in July 2003 some six weeks after he had been reported missing. He had been shot twice in the head.
Before Dennehy's body was found, Dotson was arrested in Maryland after calling authorities. Investigators said then that Dotson gave enough specific information to convince them that he killed Dennehy.
The death led to the resignations of Baylor basketball coach Dave Bliss and athletic director Tom Stanton.
