LOS ANGELES (AFP) — Bugs Bunny and friends are going Chinese under a deal unveiled by US movie giant Warner Brothers with Internet portal Tom.com.
Warner Bros Studios said it was launching its first Chinese website featuring classic characters such as Scooby-Doo, Bugs Bunny and Tweety along with sections for movies and games.
Hosted by China's TOM Online Inc., the site will also be available on wireless platforms, potentially reaching 350 million mobile phone subscribers, a Warner Bros statement said.
"The Chinese marketplace has extremely sophisticated tastes and understanding of online and wireless technologies, and in many cases they are the preferred mediums for consuming entertainment," said Warner Bros Online boss Jim Noonan.
