Vietnamese PM faces noisy protests outside White House

WASHINGTON (AFP) — About 200 mostly Vietnamese-Americans demonstrated against Vietnam's human rights record in front of the White House as Prime Minister Phan Van Khai held talks with US President George W. Bush.

Shouting "Van Khai terrorist" and "Van Khai go home, you are a liar," some of them tried to run towards the prime minister's limousine as it negotiated a bend towards the gates of Bush's official residence but were stopped by security personnel.

"This guy has no right to be here. He is a liar. He claims there is freedom in Vietnam but there is no freedom," said Le Tuan, who came all the way from Georgia to join the protests.
