Vietnamese Americans throng White House to protest Vietnamese PM visit

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Still scarred by the Vietnam War and frustrated with communist dictatorship in their motherland, Vietnamese Americans converged on the White House to vent their anger on Vietnamese Premier Phan Van Khai as he held talks with President George W. Bush.

Shouting "Van Khai terrorist" and "Van Khai go home, you are a liar," some of them tried to run towards his limousine as it negotiated a bend towards the gates of Bush's official residence but were stopped by security personnel.

"This guy has no right to be here. He is a liar. He claims there is freedom in Vietnam but there is no freedom," said Le Tuan, who came all the way from Georgia to spearhead the protests.
