S.Korean anti-trust watchdog rejects Microsoft request for more time

SEOUL (AFP) — South Korea's anti-trust watchdog said it had rejected Microsoft's request for more time to respond to allegations of abuse of its market dominance and fair trade violations.

Microsoft had been ordered to submit a report on its position to the Fair Trade Commission (FTC) by the end of this month but the US software giant called for a two-week delay.

"The commission turned down the request because Microsoft had been already given enough time to explain its position," FTC spokesman Kim Joo-Hyck told AFP.

"The commission will hold a nine-member general meeting on July 13 and a decision could come that day or later," he said Monday.
