MOSUL, Iraq (AFP) — A television director of the official Al Iraqia station was killed in the volatile northern city of Mosul, station boss Ghazi Faycal said.

"Khaleb Sabih al Attar, who was both a director and anchorman at the Mosul bureau, was kidnapped prior to the Friday prayer in a northern neighborhood and his body was found in a field west of the city," Faycal said.

Attar's satirical program, "I Don't Give a Damn," poked fun at waste and negligence in government offices.

"His body was brought to us with bullets in the head and chest," a doctor at the city's main hospital said.
