Broken leg to sideline Toronto's Halladay at least a month

ARLINGTON, United States (AFP) — Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Roy Halladay will miss at least a month - including a possible start in baseball's All-Star Game next Tuesday - with a broken left leg.

Halladay was injured on Friday, when he was struck by a line drive by Kevin Mench in a game against the Texas Rangers.

The Blue Jays initially hoped the injury was just a bruise, but X-rays revealed a fracture and Halladay left the stadium on crutches.

The American League Cy Young Award winner in 2003, Halladay was a candidate to start in Tuesday's All-Star game at Detroit. He is 12-4 with a 2.41 ERA this season.

But on Friday, Halladay was roughed up for three runs and six hits in 2 2/3 innings before getting hit in the left shin by Mench's line drive....
