Bush kept informed over new London attacks

WASHINGTON (AFP) — US President George W. Bush has been kept closely informed about the new bomb attacks in London, the White House said.

"We are monitoring the situation closely. The president has been informed of the reports," White House spokesman Scott McClellan told reporters.

US cable news networks gave intense coverage of the three small blasts on the London underground rail network and one on a London bus.

Officials at the Homeland Security Department said there was no change to the alert level in the United States. Authorities raised the US threat level to orange, or "high", for mass transit after the London blasts on July 7. The rest of the United States remains at "elevated" threat level.
