Phelps unfazed by 400m free fiasco: coach

MONTREAL (AFP) — Michael Phelps was unfazed by the unflattering reaction to his 400m freestyle fiasco at the World Swimming Championships, his coach Bob Bowman said Wednesday.
Phelps has already bounced back in the pool, leading off America's gold medal-winning 4x100m free relay and capturing the 200m freestyle world title.
On Wednesday morning he cruised into the semi-finals in two events, the unfamiliar 100m freestyle and the 200m individual medley, in which he holds the world record.
"I think it was a great experience," Bowman said of Phelps's rare miss in the 400m free, in which he failed to reach the final. "And if you ever want to know anything about his character, you saw it within 48 hours."
