PHILADELPHIA, United States (AFP) — The Philadelphia Flyers, who traded Peter Forsberg before he ever played a National Hockey League game, signed the Swedish star to a two-year contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but TSN of Canada reported the deal is worth 10.7 million dollars.

Drafted sixth overall by Philadelphia in 1991, Forsberg was part of the seven-player package sent to the Quebec Nordiques on June 30, 1992 for then prospect Eric Lindros.

Forsberg, 32, went on to become the best player in the deal, winning the Calder Trophy in 1995, the Art Ross and Hart Trophies in 2003 and Stanley Cup titles with the Colorado Avalanche in 1996 and 2001.
