No more paying homage as Wariner sets sights on Johnson's record

HELSINKI (AFP) — Michael Johnson beware - Jeremy Wariner is out to eclipse everything you achieved.

Despite the legendary American being the 21-year-old prodigy's manager and advisor there will be no standing on ceremony now that his fellow Texan has added the world 400 metres title to his Olympic crown.

His 200m world record is safe from Wariner for the moment as he will not double up like Johnson did - despite coach Clyde Hart saying that his new star is faster at 200m than his former pupil - but the 400m one set in the 1999 world championships in Seville of 43.18 seconds is definitely in his sights.

Wariner believes he can get it within two years but that is where he and Hart beg to differ.

"I think I can break it in the next couple of years but...
