Italian rider Guidi tests positive for doping

KUFSTEIN, Austria (AFP) — Italian rider Fabrizio Guidi has tested positive for doping, his Swiss team Phonak confirmed.

The 33-year-old Guidi was tested in July by the International Cycling Union (UCI) and the sample proved positive.

Phonak have suspended the Italian with immediate effect.

"We have been informed by the UCI that Fabrizio Guidi has tested positive for doping," said a statement released by Phonak.

"In accordance with the regulations the rider has been suspended until a B test has been analysed."

Guidi, who had been taking part in the Tour of Germany, is the fourth rider from the Phonak team to test postive for doping inside the past two years.
