Airbus wins order for five A350-800, 24 A320 jets from CIT Group

PARIS (AFP) — CIT Group Incorporated, a US commercial and consumer finance company, has ordered five of Airbus's future A350-800 jets and 24 of its A320 family aircraft, the two companies said in separate statements.

The total value of the purchase agreement, for CIT Group's aircraft leasing subsidiary CIT Aerospace, is valued at about 2.2 billion dollars (1.8 billion euros) based on Airbus's current list prices.

The A320s are scheduled for delivery in 2007 and 2008, and the A350s in 2012 and 2013. Airbus is expected to formally launch the long-range A350 in September.

"We have seen significant improvement in the outlook for the international commercial aerospace sector," said Rick Wolfert, vice chairman, CIT Commercial Finance.
