BASEL, Switzerland (AFP) — Israel came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw with Switzerland, a result that suited neither country especially in their bid to qualify for next year's World Cup.

Switzerland moved on to 13 points, the same as the Republic of Ireland, but they top Group Four thanks to superior goal difference.

Israel are lying third on 12 points with France next on 10, but the 1998 world champions could join the top two teams later Saturday with victory against minnows the Faroe Islands.
