Jol hits out at Spurs strikers

LONDON (AFP) — Tottenham manager Martin Jol blamed his toothless attack for the sensational League Cup defeat to League Two leaders Grimsby.
Grimsby's hero was Congolese midfielder Jean-Paul Kamudimba Kalala as he struck a glorious shot from the edge of the penalty area a minute from full-time to secure a place in the third round.
Spurs - who fielded 10 full internationals - almost levelled it through Ireland international Robbie Keane in injury-time but Grimsby goalkeeper Steve Mildenhall proved equal to the task.
Jol said the Tottenham strike pairing of Keane and Jermain Defoe were so ineffective it came as little surprise Grimsby were able to grind out a memorable victory.
