China to build new giant panda breeding base to save sub-species

BEIJING (AFP) — China is to set up a new breeding base for a special species of giant pandas in its latest bid to save the undersexed endangered animal from extinction.
The base would research into the breeding of a species of giant pandas unique to Qinling Mountains in northern China's Shaanxi province and oversee their release into the wild, Xinhua news agency reported Monday.
