Bulletproof T-shirts a must for those who fear modern life

NEW YORK (AFP) — It could be a trade show for army surplus store owners, but the bullet proof vests for the fashion-conscious and ultra-light shelters on display at New York's Museum of Modern Art show just how vulnerable the West feels against terrorism and other threats.

Security has become a huge international business and now it is an acknowledged art form.

"SAFE: Design Takes On Risk" is the first major design exhibition at MoMA since the New York landmark reopened in November 2004. It presents more than 300 products and prototypes designed to protect body and mind from modern dangers.
