Harris surprise omission from Great Britain squad

LONDON (AFP) — Iestyn Harris was the surprise omission when Great Britain coach Brian Noble trimmed his squad to 19 for Saturday's Tri-Nations match against New Zealand at Loftus Road.

The 29-year-old stand-off has been in impressive form for Noble's Bradford team this year and was expected to win his 13th cap in Britain's opening game of the triangular tournament.

Harris, whose partner is expecting their second child, was left out along with Hull's Richard Horne, leaving the team without a specialist stand-off.

Noble, who is expected to shed light on his selections at a press conference in London later on Friday, is likely to opt for either Kevin Sinfield or Paul Deacon for the number six role.
