MUNICH, Germany (AFP) — Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge insists wealthy German clubs should get the lion's share of any extra revenue generated from Bundesliga television rights because the smaller clubs do not need it.

The German Football League (DFL) has sparked a mass auction between the country's leading TV stations for the television rights to the Bundesliga for the 2006/07 season and is confident of securing significantly more than the current income of 302 million euros per year.

Bayern currently receive 16.2 million euros of the 302 million euro pot, which is normally split between the 36 teams in the German first and second division.
