McClaren hails Viduka double

MIDDLESBROUGH, England (AFP) — Middlesbrough boss Steve McClaren singled out Mark Viduka for praise after the Australian striker fired his side to the verge of a place in the next round of the UEFA Cup.

Viduka warmed up for his country's World Cup qualifier against Uruguay next week with a second-half double that completed a 3-0 win over Ukrainian side Dnipro at the Riverside, following an opener from his Nigerian strike partner Aiyegbeni Yakubu.

"Mark is a goalscorer, he needs goals and he got two spectacular ones," McClaren said.

McClaren regards a fit Viduka as his first choice striker but with Szilard Nemeth, Massimo Maccarone and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink also competing for slots in attack is aware that he has rotate his strikers.
