Italian police smash drug smugglers using hearses

ROME (AFP) — Police in Palermo have smashed a gang of drug traffickers who used hearses to transport and conceal their merchandise.
Police on Monday said that more than 100 searches were mounted overnight in Sicily and other areas of the country, netting some 240 kilos (500 pounds) of drugs.
A total of 24 arrest warrants had been issued following a year-long investigation into the activities of the Palermo-based gang.
