Finland offers first European mobile digital television license

HELSINKI (AFP) — The Finnish government has launched a tender process for Europe's first mobile digital television licence with the aim that it will "lay the groundwork for a new type of content service market".

"The government wants to actively encourage new innovations and create a favorable environment for Finnish enterprises," Transport and Communications Minister Susanna Huovinen said in a statement.

"The technological development has reached a suitable stage and there is no reason to delay," she added.
