Olsen wins contract extension with Denmark

COPENHAGEN (AFP) — Denmark handed their national team coach Morten Olsen a contract extension despite the side failing to reach the 2006 World Cup finals in Germany next year.
The Danish Football Federation (DBU) now want Olsen to lead Denmark to the 2010 World Cup finals to be held in South Africa.
Olsen, 56, a former coach of top flight sides Brondby IF, FC Cologne in Germany and Dutch giants Ajax, had initially been under contract until June 30, 2006.
He led Denmark to the finals of the 2002 World Cup and the European Championships in 2004 but Denmark failed to qualify for Germany after finishing third in their group behind Ukraine and Turkey.
