Sex Pistols finally make it to Rock Hall of Fame

NEW YORK (AFP) — Punk pioneers the Sex Pistols are finally being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, an institution frontman Johnny Rotten once derided as "a place where old rockers go to die."

Other inductees into the class of 2006 include jazz great Miles Davis, heavy metal rockers Black Sabbath, new wave band Blondie and Lynyrd Skynyrd of "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Freebird" fame, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation announced Monday.

The induction ceremony will be held on March 13 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York.

Although the best-known members of the punk music explosion of the late 1970s, the Sex Pistols have had to watch other punk bands like The Ramones and The Clash precede them into the Hall of Fame.
