Ruiz camp left stone-faced after Valuev triumph

BERLIN (AFP) — Russia's Nikolay Valuev was crowned the new WBA heavyweight champion with a points win over America's John Ruiz but an ugly post match brawl took the headlines.
Ruiz and his camp believed he had done enough to retain the WBA belt but the judges awarded the win - by a 114-114, 116-113, 116-114 decision - to Valuev and Ruiz's coach Norman Stone could not stomach the decision.
Stone grabbed the belt and was escorted from the ring after screaming at the Russian camp.
"It was a terrible decision," raged Stone. "As an American you can only win in Germany with a knockout."
Ruiz was equally upset and demanded a rematch with Valuev to settle the score.
