London Mayor doubtful over Wembley timetable

LONDON (AFP) — London Mayor Ken Livingstone voiced his doubts over the timetable for the opening of the new Wembley Stadium after contractors admitted it might not be ready in time for next year's FA Cup Final on May 13 as originally planned.

Livingstone suggested it was more likely that Cardiff's Millennium Stadium would host the showpiece match.

"If I was booking a train ticket now I would most probably get one out to Wales rather than up to Wembley," he said.

He added that the example of the Wembley "fiasco" would not be repeated in the run-up to the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
