LONDON (AFP) — Middlesbrough's hopes of reviving their season in the Premiership took a big blow with the announcement that skipper Gareth Southgate will be out of action for three months with a suspected stress fracture of an ankle.
The 35-year-old England international central defender sustained the injury during the FA Cup game against Nuneaton on Saturday.
The match with the non-league club ended in a draw with Southgate conceding the penalty from which Gez Murphy scored the equaliser.
